The Cupboard Is Bare? Part II

I penned one about Pelosi and her "cupboard is bare" statement she made this past weekend on CNN. I stashed this one under "political corruption" because that seems to be the attitude of the professional pick pockets we send up to Capitol Hill. There are few up there who aren't corrupt or subject to it if we let them stay in office for too long. You can find the link to Part 1 at the bottom if you need to catch up.

I happen to read many different sources so I happened across a few tidbits this morning about the kinds of things that are in the cupboard that seem to be sacred cows and overlooked by the axe. Then I had to remember that those people warming those chairs in the nation's capitol see themselves as the elites. They don't work for us anymore. They work for this party or that party and few would dare to think for themselves. Something like the staunch "whatever's' you encounter on many of these forums. If their party says it's true then it must be. I call that type what they are - sheeple.

You see our elitists like to think of their "perks" as sacred ground, maybe not even in the cupboard to be bean counted. While the American public keeps having to tighten their belts they feel above us all. They like that high on the hog living and we're supposed to keep them in the life style they have become accustomed to even though most of them occupy a part time job. Lets look at a few items not on the chopping block in Pelosi's twisted mind.

Remember Harry Reid of US Senate fame? He and the other Senators need to have their hair care needs met at our expense. Who pays for you coifs? How much is that costing us?

"Senate Hair Care Services has cost taxpayers about $5.25 million over 15 years. They foot the bill of more than $40,000 for the shoeshine attendant last fiscal year. Six barbers took in more than $40,000 each, including nearly $80,000 for the head barber."

That's a whole lot of snipping and clipping don't you think? 100 Senators , many of them balding male types so think about it. Now I think all of these over paid tax payer soakers can afford those things which most of us have to pay for. Over one half of those sitting in Congress are millionaires. The other half will be before they leave office more than likely.

Don't gag but just recently in one year the average per US Senator of $4,005,900 was spent on “personal” and “office” expenses. That was per Senator folks so do that time 100. So lets take a look at their extravagant pension system tied to a part time job that they want to make look like a full time job. Keep in mind that the government now considers 30 hours a week to be full time.

We're talking "for life here" after they leave office. Some of them have been on the active gravy train for decades upon decades. You hear me Harry and Nancy? How about you Mitch and John?

"In 2011, 280 former lawmakers who retired under a former government pension system received average annual pensions of $70,620, according to a Congressional Research Services report. They averaged around 20 years of service. At the same time, another 215 retirees (elected in 1984 or later with an average of 15 years of service) received average annual checks of roughly $40,000 a year." Talk about a two-tier system huh?

Some who have retired are on the 100K plus plan a year. That short list includes Newt Gingrich, Bob Dole, Trent Lott, Dick Gephardt and Dick Cheney. We taxpayers, not you sponges, are kicking in about $3.6 million per annum to support former Presidents like Bill Clinton and George Bush. Aren't they also multi-millionaires? So nowhere to cut again Nancy?

Now keep in mind that this group of clowns took a 5 week recess vacation and came back into town just in time to deal with their manufactured debt crisis. Why do I call it manufactured? Because not one, not even one, of the appropriations bills sent from the House to the Senate has yet to see the light of day. So if the CR doesn't pass they have literally no money. Is that the tax payer's fault? No it is Obama and his Senate buddy Harry Reid's doing. We're paying the US Senate to not do their job. That's the same Harry Reid who is calling people anarchists for opposing a huge federal government.

Speaking of Obama lets take a peek. Recently we ponied up $1.4 billion in a year spent on the Obama's. Maybe they should make them a TV series huh? Remember "Bo" the dog. His handler pulls down $102K a year. For a dog? So how do the British manage to spend only $58 million on the entire royal family? Inquiring minds should be asking questions and looking at facts and not Pelosi type spinning.

I can go on and on about the perks and freebies these elitists expect us to spare from the axe. Extravagant junkets and vacations for all. All but us I reckon. Biden's hotel bill on a trip to London cost us $459,388.65 down to the skinny penny. Incredible largesse while the average American is struggling.

So next time you look in the federal cupboard Pelosi grab a step stool and look in the back where you don't want to look.

FOOTNOTE: While you're looking around Pelsoi could you possibly explain where the $67 million the IRS can't account for that was in the Obamacare implementation slush fund went? I'm just asking... I know you consider that to be pocket change but I sure don't.
