Oil Production And Obama

Have you ever noticed how Obama likes to take credit for things he has had nothing to do with? But that he is also just as quick to point his bony finger in blame for those things that are rightfully his screw ups? Such is the case with his phony claims that he is responsible for increased oil production in our country. Guess what? A pound of baloney is still a pound of baloney.

So along comes a government report that puts more egg on Obama's face about his ability to lie to the American people and expect everyone to believe him just because he happens to be the President of the United States. He also happens to be a pathological liar so keep that in mind as you're listening to him open his pie hole.

If you're like me these days you're having to pull up to the pump more often than you'd like and get that uncomfortable feeling in your wallet. It's not getting any better due to his lack of a coherent energy policy. Fossil fuels aren't going away anytime in the foreseeable future whether Obama likes it or not, Drill - Baby - Drill is one key. And Pipeline - Baby - Pipeline is another.

I'll attempt to write this Hub so that even a 5th grader can understand what is really going on with the supply and demand side of this equation.

I remember him saying that under his leadership energy prices will sky rocket. Why am I one of the few that remember him saying that? Just that would be enough to make me not vote for him. Energy prices drive many things in this nation and as they increase so does the price of the majority of things we use. I know liberals and tree huggers have a problem wrapping their heads around that concept but facts are facts. So back to the report.

The report is titled the "US Crude Oil and Natural Gas Production in Federal and Non-Federal Areas" and was released by the Congressional Research Service. It spells out exactly what many of us know. That Obama tooting his own horn is off key to actual factual data. You can pull it up and read it for yourself if you'd like it that way. This past campaign he stood on the podium and lied right to you with a straight face. Now I ask you again, "Have you pulled up to the pump lately?"

Marc Humphries is a government expert and a specialist on energy policy. He wrote the report. This is what he found, “All of the increase (in oil and natural gas production) from FY2007 to FY2012 took place on non-federal lands, and the federal share of total U.S. crude oil production fell by about seven percentage points.” That directly refutes what Pied Piper Obama has been crowing about.

Humphries goes on further with his data. Oil production on federal lands during thast period fell from 1.7 million barrels a day to 1.6 million. Isn't that a decrease Obama? Then there is the fact the actual share of production of lands owned by the federal government shrunk from 33% to 26%. So that's an increase? Using which form of math? Bare in mind at the same time that the American people actually own the lands in question, Obama does not. We own the federal government, Obama does not.

So then the question becomes where is the difference found and why? Look at it as a see-saw effect. On shore production actually increased modestly while off shore decreased. By how much? It declined form 1.4 to 1.3 million during the period studied.

Gas production seems to mirror what has happened on federal lands but to a greater degree. there was a decrease in gas production from 5.5 trillion cubic feet to 3.7 cubic feet while the federal share went from 27.8% to 15.5% of total gas production. There's that Obama math again at work. A decrease is an increase and vice versa. A bit of a difference occurs with off shore production. The report shows that both on shore and off shore production have plummeted while off shore has dropped by 50%.

Output on private lands is booming because it isn't under the boot heel of Obama and his federal agencies.. Oil production on private land grew from 3.4 million barrels a day to 4.6 million. While at the same time gas production shows an increase rising from 14.4 trillion cubic feet to 20.2 trillion.

Ham fisted energy policies like Obama's will not portend well for the good times. Why? Because 43% of all domestic crude reserves lie under federal land and 28% of gas reserves are under the federal auspices. Circle back around to who owns the federal lands.

Humphries recommends a more efficient permitting process. That probably isn't going to happen because Obama doesn't want it to happen. His agenda and the public at large's agenda aren't compatible. We don't need higher energy prices to help right our economy. We need energy independence. We need to stop sending billions upon billions of our tax dollars to the robber barons overseas.

There is a war on coal by this administration. Couple that with their war on fossil fuels in general and you should have a pretty good idea of how a failed energy policy is working. The LalaLand idea that fossil fuels are just going to go away isn't realistic.

Obama speaks of change and he could change the picture here without using a remote control. He has made it harder, not easier, to get the permits to explore and produce on federal lands. He has put the disincentives in place as the roadblock. Tracts have land have been removed which had previously been cleared for exploration. Why is what you should be asking yourself. But go watch the video one more time if you can't answer that question.

If the United States actually becomes energy independent just on fossil; fuels alone there would be such an economic impact on both this nation and the world that we might be able to breathe a little easier in the long run.
