Going To The Pump...

Updated on October 14, 2012

So Why Isn't The Media On It?

Prices More Than Doubled And Not A Word From The LSM

These rising fuel prices are like a tax that is hitting all of us from all economic spectrums. It has to be especially hard on the working poor who are trying to move up into the middle class. And here I was thinking that Obama wants to make sure there are no "new taxes" on the middle class. I wonder what he calls escalating fuel prices? Better yet I wonder if he cares since his Secretary of Energy has previously stated that this administration's goal is European gas prices.

I've heard all kinds of excuses running from the cost of the "summer blend" is higher. Okay summer is over and gasoline just went up 15 cents a gallon in one weeks time. Scratch that theory. Then there is the supply and demand argument. But demand is down because of the high prices so shouldn't the prices go down with the decrease in demand? The best theory I have has to do with Obama's failed energy policies. He claims drilling is up but if it is it isn't attributable to anything he has done. If supplies are up, demand is down then fuel prices should go where? I studied economics so I know what the theory says but do you?

Before And Now...

Another curiosity is why the Lame Stream Media isn't covering any, and every, gas price hike across this nation. They can't blame Bush like they did back when he was the Prez. Heavens to Betsy they had reporters beating the street with every tale of woe offered by a consumer about how terrible it was to have to pay $2.50 a gallon. Gas prices have more than doubled since Obama assumed office and the LSM is as quiet as a church mouse about it. They're just hoping that no one notices?

Gas averaged $1.85 when Obama was inaugurated. The national average now is $3.85 a gallon. You'd think the press would be calling for George Bush to pick up the reins of the energy wagon again. But instead we can hear a pin drop. Google "gas prices double under Obama and see how many supposedly Main Stream Media articles you can read on the first page. What I think I am seeing is a rather blatant media bias about the entire fiasco. Surely Obama doesn't need another failure to report on.

Then we have people who run small businesses, you know those people who provide the majority of jobs in the country, who have sucked it up for a long time under Obama's mismanagement of drilling in our own country. From their perspective where do they cut next when they've cut every which way but loose except for maybe your job?

There are side consequences to these high gas prices besides sacrificing all those jobs the Keystone Pipeline could provide along with increased drilling on federal lands and offshore resources. We need to have a sound energy policy that opens up our own resources. Obama is trying to bankrupt the coal industry and he has publicly stated that. He seems to be doing an admirable job. There goes more jobs down the Obama toilet. He's spent billions of our tax dollars paying back his election donors chasing his green energy agenda. Romney smacked him good about those bankruptcies during the debate and Obama just hung his head.

Everytime gas/diesel prices go up our basics of life ride with them. That has the same effect of adding more taxes to all Americans. The people least likely to be able to afford this nonsense are being hit harder than those who can better afford the prices spiking. Going the the grocery store has gotten as uncomfortable as pulling up to the pump. As a small business owner I have cut back as far as I can possibly cut back and remain in business. That isn't a tale of woe but an economic reality and I know I'm not the only oar in the water.

It's time that the Idiot-In-Chief stop worrying about Big Bird, Tickle Me Elmo and that whole crowd. He has mentioned Big Bird 8 times and Elmo 5 and hasn't said a darned word about the high gas prices we're paying across this nation under his stewardship, or should I say lack of it. Big Bird is nothing more than another welfare queen so let it rest. PBS needs to stand on its own rather than us borrow money from China to buy her bird seed.

The American public, all of us collectively, are taking shot after shot in the gut and in the wallet. All I can hope is that the American public remember what we've had to endure for 4 long years with Obama and his failed energy agenda. They don't put windmills on top of cars nor solar panels. That's just a big pipe dream and a waste of our tax dollars. It was also just announced that the Volt battery operation that ate about $150 million of tax dollars is putting its workers out on furlough. What an ass backwards administration some big dummies helped elect. Drill, Baby, Drill...

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Obama isn't just a sore loser, he's a petulant, dishonest, crybaby, narcissistic loser."
