Catching On Yet?

Updated on October 9, 2013

Watching the political shape shifters during events like the sequester and, as of late, the fake government shutdown is a lesson often lost on the politically naïve. Am I talking about you again? Well, I'll be. I sit back and watch in amazement as I see how much of the federal government we don't need, now or probably ever in the future. For most of the American people this should be an eye opener in how bloated the bureaucracy has become . I said for most because if I could grab that remote they use and turn off reality TV and the assorted junk people watch they might open their eyes. I don't count on it though.

How huge is huge can be seen in how many "priorities" there seem to be. For the average American our priorities are putting a roof over head, food on the table, paying the utilities and our other bills, saving a little hopefully and what is left may buy us a movie ticket or a night out to dinner. But our elites don't think in simple terms. They want "huge everything" and in increasing portions without sacrificing anything regarding what they have already made us pay for and continue to pay for. There is always room for further government expansion, just a lack of money to go there.

What seems ironic is that people, some anyway, think that the very people who keep bringing on the same crisis situations over and over again to cover their butts can be relied upon to change their stinkin' thinkin'. Thy can't nor will they. Our supposed political leaders talk the talk all the time. We rarely see the walk and I'll use Obama's pivot to "jobs" until I'm sick of hearing him saying it is his priority. Since when? When it is politically expedient for him to say so? The guy knows nothing about creating jobs so you expect what when he says it?

So lets pivot over to this manufactured "budget" crisis that we are on a treadmill about without an actual solution in sight. No one has done anything up on Capitol Hill since Obama took office about passing an actual budget. If they did it would reveal what their true priorities are and they don't want the people who fund their nonsense to see that ruse. They built such a huge house of cards that not one thing can be sacrificed in order to create their next grand scheme. Compromise? No way and Obama has lately driven that into the low information voter's psyche. the concept of robbing Peter to pay Paul is lost on these professional pick pockets we call politicians.

To try to be all things to all people is the nature of a politician. Think about that long and hard and see if your expectations are being met. Think about the business annihilating effects of Obamacare and seeking this mythical economic growth that Obama has no idea how to achieve. Think about raising taxes on the people who provide the economic growth/jobs and never touching the 50% of those who pay no income tax.

"You can't solve current problems with current thinking" but I'll be damned if we don't see it happening over and over again. Do you really expect a different result?

Somehow Big Bird keeps coming to mind. During this latest shutdown PBS just received its $445 million subsidy and death benefits can't be paid to the families of the 26 service members who lost their lives in Afghanistan since October 1st. That illustrates just how screwed up priorities have become. Sesame Street Productions is rolling in profits. How about those families of our fallen heroes? Are we getting that twisted about reality? Having served 23 years myself I can tell you that not one veteran I know of did it with a profit motive in mind.

Shutting off that government gravy train spigot and the ruling elite's immediate priorities take front and center. Have you really been watching and connecting the dots? Obama has dissed war veterans by closing monuments that have never, ever been closed due to any government shutdown - EVER. But yesterday he gave the go ahead for Democrats to stage a rally of illegal immigrants on the very National Mall that he has deemed closed. You getting the picture yet? Guess who had to remove the trash that the trash left behind? If you guessed the National Park Service you guessed correctly. The political trash in attendance were either arrested or walked home from the event.

So Big bird got his penance, World War II veterans were treated with disrespect as were Vietnam Era veterans, Pelosi got her illegal immigration rally and slain veteran's families got the shaft. Priorities? Take a good, hard look.

Why in the world should the House of Representatives be preparing a bill to compel funding for military funerals for fallen heroes? What has this nation come to? Will that bill succeeed? How many of the individual bills that the House has sent to Harry Reid's Democratically controlled Senate been passed in the name of humanity? Reid is now known as Obama's Shutdown Enforcer. But then again I just used the word "humane" and not "punishment."

As Always,

The Frog Prnce
